Irene Laube, associate dean and director of the library at Durham Tech, was presented with the Life Membership Award at the North Carolina Community College Library Association (NCCCLA) conference last week. The award qualifies a librarian retiring from the community college system to be a life member of NCCCLA and attend all future conferences free of charge. She will retire June 1.
The NCCCLA conference was held at Carteret Community College (CCC) in beautiful Morehead City where it celebrated the 50th anniversary of the association. Tracy Mancini, a former dean of the Arts, Sciences, and University Transfer program at Durham Tech and current vice president of Instruction and Student Services at CCC, gave the introduction for North Carolina author Lee Smith’s keynote address at the conference.
Also in attendance was Barbara Baker, former vice president of Durham Tech. She was recognized as a past president of the Association from 1982-1983.
