Jacequeline Mitchell, director of Certification and Career Training for Corporate and Continuing Education at Durham Tech, received the Above and Beyond Award at a ceremony in Greensboro, NC on March 25.
The Above and Beyond Award is presented by North Carolina Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve State Committees, a Department of Defense office to recognize employers at the local level who have gone above and beyond the legal requirements of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act by providing additional non-mandated benefits to their Guard and Reserve employees.
Mitchell was nominated by U.S. Army Reserve Captain Jeffrey Daye, an adjunct instructor at Durham Tech who serves in the 535th Military Police Battalion. One of the presenters of the award was Larry Hall, Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Military and Veteran’s Affairs. Mitchell also received the Patriot’s Award for her work with National Guardsmen and U.S. Army Reservists from ESGR last year.
