The Durham Technical Community College Foundation celebrated a donation of more than $22,000 in training equipment from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation for the college’s Fire Academy on Thursday.
The Foundation received a forcible-entry door simulator and other equipment to be used by students at the Durham Tech Fire Academy.
Representatives from Durham Tech, the Public Safety Foundation, and North Carolina Central University — who also was awarded equipment — joined in the event at a Firehouse Subs franchise on Erwin Road. The celebration also included a demonstration of the door simulator by Fire Academy cadets.
In 2005, Firehouse Subs created the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation with the mission of providing funding, life-saving equipment, and educational opportunities to first-responders and public safety organizations.
